SRCP Visits Yowaka Bridge To Assist in First Roll Anode Installation To Pile Caps
The typical cathodic protection system proposed on bridge pile caps is to install water anodes to protect the lower half of the tidal zone.
Roll anodes can then be installed in the tidal and splash zones. In the spray and atmospheric zones ZLA can be installed (see Stockton Bridge).
The Yowaka Bridge was built in 1936 and crosses Saltwater Creek near Eden in NSW. Corrosion is quite advanced in some areas of the bridge and consistent with the above RMS decided to install Roll Anodes in top of the pile caps
